Sheriff’s Department Dog needs surgery!

2011 December 22
by Amy

The Teton County Sheriff’s Department is wishing for a new left hip for its drug-sniffing deputy, “Duce” this Christmas. The 8-year old golden retriever has been with the Sheriff’s Department for 5-years after he was rescued from a Colorado Animal Shelter. Duce’s hip has been bothering him for a long time, but once he gets this surgery he’ll be healthy enough for 3-4 more years of work.

The surgery will cost several thousand dollars and at this time the Department simply does not have money. That’s where PAWS comes in. We’ve started a Law Enforcement Canine Fund for Duce and any other police dog in need.  To help Duce for Christmas, make a tax-deductible donation to PAWS of Jackson Hole’s Law Enforcement Canine Fund. Stop by our office at 250 West Pearl Street, call the office at 734-2441 or go online at pawsofjh.org! Just click DONATE NOW and make a note in the “special instructions” section that your donation is for Duce.

We thank you and Duce thanks you, too!

SafePAWS Foster Training

Thursday, September 29th 5:30 PM

Call Community Safety Network today to register!

307-733-3711

Today in the U.S. there are only 28 domestic violence shelters that accept pets. Community Safety Network is one of them! PAWS and Community Safety Network partner in providing this vital resource for victims of domestic violence. In the past year, Coney’s Cottage (our on-site pet kennel) has housed numerous dogs and cats that were in desperate need of a safe haven. At times we have multiple cases happening at once. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate one family pet in the cottage at a time. Overflow pets need to be relocated to foster families around town.

In the past year, we’ve seen a decline in participation from our foster volunteers. We are in desperate need of people that are willing to open their homes and their hearts to these pets. If you are interested in helping a pet in need, please consider becoming a SafePAWS Foster. Your commitment will ensure a safe haven for a pet coming out of an abusive home. We thank you and your neighbors thank you!

Doggie Valet Volunteers Needed for Old Bill’s Fun Run – Sept. 10th

2011 August 18
by Amy

Each year at Old Bill’s Fun Run for Charities, PAWS hosts a Doggie Valet service at the food tent. Since pets are not allowed in the tent, our valets hang out outside the tent and keep dogs safe and secure while owners are inside. If you are interested in volunteering for an hour or so on Sept. 10th on Town Square, please call Bobbie Whalen at 307-734-2441! Thanks for your time!

Please remember PAWS in your Old Bill’s donations this year. We rely on the generosity of our supporters to maintain all eight of our community programs. These programs include our support of the local Animal Shelter; our free spay/neuter program, maintenance and improvements for Sophie’s Place Dog Park, financial assistance and of course, mutt mitts, education and our SafePAWS program!

Interested in donating? Go to www.oldbills.org and select PAWS of Jackson Hole today!
