Today in the U.S. there are only 28 domestic violence shelters that accept pets. Community Safety Network is one of them! PAWS and Community Safety Network partner in providing this vital resource for victims of domestic violence. In the past year, Coney’s Cottage (our on-site pet kennel) has housed numerous dogs and cats that were in desperate need of a safe haven. At times we have multiple cases happening at once. Unfortunately, we can only accommodate one family pet in the cottage at a time. Overflow pets need to be relocated to foster families around town.
In the past year, we’ve seen a decline in participation from our foster volunteers. We are in desperate need of people that are willing to open their homes and their hearts to these pets. If you are interested in helping a pet in need, please consider becoming a SafePAWS Foster. Your commitment will ensure a safe haven for a pet coming out of an abusive home.
