Here are some tips on what to do if you see a stray or wandering pet in our community:

  • Check for a collar with ID tags and phone the owner.
  • Contact any local vet and give them the license number or rabies ID number – this is another good way to identify the owner.
  • Call Jackson’s Town & Country dispatch at 733-2331 to report the pet.
  • Call the animal shelter at 733-2139 and find out if someone has reported the pet missing.
  • Notify the local radio stations:
    KMTN at 733-5686; KZ95 at 733-3238; JHCR at 733-4030;
    KSGT at 733-3693; KJAX at 733-5529.

Most stray animals have loving families that are desperate to find them.  The best thing to do for a stray animal is to take them to the animal shelter where they will be safe until the owner can pick him up.  If the pet is a true stray, they can be adopted after 7 days.
